Stephen M. (Pete) Peterson is the CEO of Maxfield Peterson, P.C. Pete has worked with a wide variety of closely held businesses and professional service firms, with over 30 years of experience in tax, accounting, finance, management, and consulting. Pete's professional philosophy is that, "the client is the center of all that we do." Throughout his career, this philosophy has earned him an international reputation of honesty, integrity, technical excellence, and a genuine concern for clients.

Pete has enjoyed a diverse career in public accounting and business advisory service, assisting clients along the Western Slope as well as nationally and internationally. Pete has also written and lectured on a wide range of financial and management issues. Pete has been employed in both national and local CPA firms including Arthur Andersen, Alexander Grant, and Fortner Bayens & Levkulich.

He was Chief Financial Officer for the international law firm of Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly headquartered in Minneapolis, and for the Colorado firm of Davis Graham & Stubbs.
